CNC VMC Setup Machinist -- Tool Life & Inspection

What you’ll tackle

• Own the setup and operation of CNC vertical mills for metallic materials.
• Oversee tool life: monitor, document, and replace cutting tools before failure.
• Translate blueprints, shop drawings, and engineering specs into accurate parts.
• Execute first-piece, in-process, and last-piece inspections using micrometers, calipers, comparators, and gauges per process documentation.
• Handle daily operator maintenance to keep machines running smoothly.
• Diagnose chatter, dimensional drift, and surface finish issues; implement corrective actions.
• Perform basic deburring and in-process rework to meet quality standards.
• Suggest improvements that reduce cycle time and increase repeatability.
• Uphold 5S principles to maintain a clean, efficient workstation.

You bring

• 3+ years of CNC milling experience.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Sharp attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Solid command of shop math.
• Required: working knowledge of G- and M-code.
• Awareness of safety and quality management systems.
• Flexibility to support a range of manufacturing tasks as needed.

Bonus points

• Aerospace machining experience.
• Proven track record with tool life management.
• Comfort reading/writing detailed instructions, prints, and engineering specifications.
• 3-axis VMC setup experience.
• Ability to interpret CMM reports.
