Duties

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and dignity
  • Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration, accurately documenting findings in electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper handling and adherence to safety protocols
  • Provide specialized care for patients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, utilizing memory care techniques and behavioral health strategies
  • Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts and ensure safe manual handling practices during patient transfers
  • Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures like catheter care and wound management to prevent infection
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in acute care environments including ICU, emergency medicine, or surgical units to deliver seamless patient care

Requirements

  • Valid certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in accordance with state regulations
  • Experience working in diverse healthcare settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, or home care environments
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner is preferred
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and adhere to safe lifting practices during patient transfers or mobility assistance
  • Strong communication skills and compassionate caregiving attitude focused on patient service excellence
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as CPR or phlebotomy are advantageous
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs is a plus
