Overview
Employee is required for maintaining the clean and neat appearance of all assigned areas and reporting all problems to the supervisor, including items not listed in the responsibilities. Team work is expected from every employee. This description and the quantity of duties is subject to change at any time by the supervisor.
Duties and Essential Functions
- Clean hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, common rooms (party room, children’s play room, fitness center) and other work areas so that health standards are met.
- Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers.
- Empty wastebaskets, ashtrays and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.
- Carry toilet items and cleaning supplies using wheeled carts.
- Sweep, scrub, wax, and/or polish floors using brooms, mops and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
- Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
- Keep storage areas and carts well‑stocked, clean and tidy.
- Remove debris from driveways, garages and swimming pool areas.
- Wash windows, walls, ceilings, doors and woodwork, waxing and polishing as necessary.
- Report any and all maintenance items, including but not limited to burned out lights, leaks, broken equipment, to the Building Maintenance Department.
- Disinfect equipment and supplies using germicides or steam‑operated sterilizers.
- Dust window blinds.
- Observe all State, Federal and Company safety standards while performing tasks in order to maintain a safe work environment.
- Observe precautions required to protect Residents, guests and property, and report damage, theft and found articles to supervisors.
- Prepare rooms for meetings and arrange decorations and furniture for social or business functions.
- Properly utilize new equipment and follow safety procedures prior to using this equipment.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.

The Household Environment
The housekeeper performs their work in a residential environment and must be able to work with chemical cleaning solutions. Position requires exposure to outdoor climate and weather conditions.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk and climb stairs, climb ladders, crawl in small and tight spaces; stoop and/or kneel; lift and/or move and/or carry up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to push cleaning equipment up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to handle, finger, grasp and feel objects and equipment.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to repeat various motions with wrists, hands and fingers.
Position Type & Schedule
Non‑exempt (hourly) position. Schedule will be determined at each property/location to suit business needs of the community. Schedule may change to accommodate business requirements.
Required Education and Experience
- At least one year experience managing and supervising a housekeeping department.
- Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products and how to properly use them.
- Ability to use standard cleaning equipment within a residential building (vacuum cleaner, floor polisher, cleaning cart, etc.).
- Must have the ability to react to and address all emergency situations in a timely manner.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
