Position: Pharmacy Technician- Inside Target

Job Purpose and Summary

In our retail locations, Pharmacy Technicians support pharmacy teams to deliver operational and service excellence. Technicians are the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prompt, safe, accurate prescription fulfillment and providing caring service that exceeds expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Live the company's purpose by following all SOPs at each workstation to help pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy and genuine care, creating personalized moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and on the phone; offering immunizations and other services; and addressing or escalating patient problems.
  • Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by leadership, such as putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and waiting‑bin inventories.
  • Support a high‑performing team by embracing a growth mindset, seeking feedback, and expanding clinical and technical knowledge.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, and be willing to travel to other market stores for shifts.
  • Understand and comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles.
  • Follow CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, controlled substance compliance, and patient privacy and security.
  • Deliver additional patient health‑care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and off‑site clinic staffing) where permitted by law and supported by training and certification.
  • When authorized, support immunizations by completing licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status, educating patients, monitoring adverse reactions, and managing vaccine supplies.

Required Qualifications

Meet all state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification. If no minimum age is stated, must be at least 16 years old. If no minimum educational requirement is stated, must have a high school diploma or equivalency, or be enrolled in high school. State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.

  • Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.

  • Apply mathematical reasoning to solve dosing and inventory problems.
  • Resolve challenging interactions with patients or colleagues by identifying appropriate courses of action.

Physical Demands

  • Be mobile and remain standing for extended periods.
  • Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead and stretch to grasp items.
  • Perform repetitive finger motions, typing, and fine motor tasks.
  • Stoop and move items between low and high positions, bending at the waist.
  • Have adequate visual acuity for transcribing, reading computer screens, and inspecting small parts.
  • Lift up to 20 lbs and exert up to 20 lbs of force; frequently lift up to 10 lbs and exert up to 10 lbs.
  • Speak and listen accurately when conveying detailed instructions.
  • Receive detailed information via oral communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market to meet business needs.

Pay, Hours, and Benefits

Anticipated weekly hours: 30. Full‑time position with a pay range of $16.00–$24.00 per hour. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, retirement savings options, wellness programs, and other resources based on eligibility.
