Job Title: Courier
Job Description
This role delivers critical products and materials within the city and surrounding areas while providing reliable, customer-focused service. The courier safely transports items between designated locations, supports shipping and receiving activities, and ensures accurate documentation and recordkeeping. The position combines driving, material handling, and basic inventory tasks in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled pickups and deliveries within the city and surrounding areas in a safe and timely manner.
- Collect incoming products and materials and deliver outgoing items at designated times and locations.
- Transport products and materials to specified locations, following established routes and instructions.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks, including lifting, moving, and staging materials as needed.
- Verify quantities and accuracy of received goods against documentation to ensure correct deliveries.
- Forward related paperwork and delivery documentation to the appropriate department promptly.
- Handle recordkeeping tasks related to shipments, deliveries, and inventory as required.
- Support shipping and receiving functions, including physical inventories and quality control checks.
- Use scanners and related equipment to record materials and track inventory movements.
- Communicate professionally with hospital personnel and other stakeholders to coordinate deliveries and resolve issues.
- Use computers, Microsoft Office, and email systems such as Outlook to manage orders, send updates, and process documentation.
- Operate a box truck or similar vehicle in compliance with traffic laws and company safety procedures.
- Provide courteous customer service during all interactions with internal and external contacts.
- Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures while working on-site and on the road.
Essential Skills
- 4–5 years of experience as a courier.
- 4–5 years of experience working in customer service.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record at the time of hire and maintained throughout employment.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Familiarity with the Charleston area.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with hospital personnel and other stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to handle recordkeeping tasks, including shipping and receiving documentation, physical inventories, and quality control checks.
- Proficiency with computers, including intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and email systems such as Outlook.
- Experience with inventory and material handling processes.
- Experience in logistics, transportation, and order management.
- Experience operating a box truck.
- Ability to stand on feet for the majority of the shift.
- Physical ability to pick orders, stock shipments, and handle materials safely.
- Ability to use a scanner to record materials and track inventory movements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience as a courier or in delivery roles, preferably in a healthcare environment.
- Customer service experience in a fast-paced setting.
- Experience with invoice processing and basic logistics coordination.
- CDL experience or exposure to commercial driving is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail when verifying quantities and processing paperwork.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Comfort working across different shifts, including daytime, evening, and overnight hours.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charleston, SC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
