We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist, that an help with administrative tasks. We are also interested in hiring two additional Optometric Technicians to join our vibrant healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Handle comprehensive medical billing tasks, including coding, claim submission, and follow-up to maximize revenue cycle efficiency.
- Manage the front desk by greeting patients, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Assist optometrists during eye exams by performing vital signs measurement, patient intake assessments, and explaining procedures clearly.
- Operate ophthalmic equipment such as A-scan biometry devices and tonometers with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and following clinical confidentiality policies diligently.
- Maintain electronic health records (EHR) and electronic medical records (EMR) systems accurately for seamless documentation and retrieval of patient data.
- Support clinical operations by taking vital signs, performing basic anatomy assessments related to ophthalmology and physiology, and assisting with clinical procedures like medical equipment operation.
- Manage retail sales of optical products, applying retail math skills to ensure accurate transactions while providing excellent customer service.
- Coordinate with insurance providers for claims processing, medical coding accuracy, and billing inquiries to optimize reimbursement processes.
- Uphold clinic standards through adherence to infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and ensuring a safe environment for both staff and patients.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of patient care practices within ophthalmology or optometry settings.
- Proficiency in HIPAA compliance and clinical confidentiality policies to protect sensitive information.
- Experience with intake procedures, vital signs collection, and direct patient care activities.
- Familiarity with optical experience including use of ophthalmic diagnostic equipment such as Autorefractors, Fundus Cameras and tonometers.
- Solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy related to eye health, physiology concepts, and medical coding/billing processes.
- Ability to operate medical equipment safely and efficiently while following aseptic techniques.
- Expertise in electronic health records (EHR) management systems such as Epic or other EMR platforms.
- Background in medical office administration combined with retail sales experience for optical products.
- Knowledge of clinic workflows involving pediatrics or general patient populations to provide comprehensive support.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and billing documentation.
