Position Summary

The Bartender is responsible for providing exceptional food and beverage service to hotel guests while creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere in the hotel bar, lounge, and restaurant areas. This position prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, maintains compliance with all company and legal requirements, and delivers the high level of hospitality associated with the DoubleTree by Hilton brand.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet guests promptly and provide friendly, attentive service.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and standards.
  • Take food and beverage orders and accurately enter them into the POS system.
  • Verify guest age and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal alcohol service laws.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar area.
  • Monitor guest alcohol consumption and responsibly address over-service situations.
  • Process guest payments accurately and balance credit transactions.
  • Recommend beverages, cocktails, wines, and menu items to enhance the guest experience.
  • Maintain knowledge of current promotions, special events, and hotel amenities.
  • Assist with inventory counts, restocking, and ordering supplies as directed.
  • Follow all Hilton and DoubleTree brand standards, health regulations, and safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with restaurant servers, kitchen staff, and hotel departments to ensure seamless guest service.
  • Set up and break down bar operations before and after shifts.
  • Attend departmental meetings and required training sessions.

Qualifications

  • ServSafe Alcohol Awareness Training
  • Previous bartending experience in a hotel, restaurant, or hospitality environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of beverage preparation, wine service, and mixology techniques.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required alcohol service certifications.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math and cash-handling skills.
  • Experience using POS systems preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as business demands require.

Work Environment

This position works primarily in the hotel restaurant, lounge, banquet, and bar areas. The environment may be fast-paced during peak periods, special events, and group functions.
