Role Description The Facilities Maintenance Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Lorton, VA. This role is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and common areas, including minor repairs to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural components as qualified. Day-to-day tasks include inspecting facilities, troubleshooting issues, responding to work orders, and coordinating with property management and vendors to ensure timely resolution of maintenance needs. The technician will also assist with safety checks, upkeep of exterior grounds, and maintaining documentation of repairs and service activities. This position requires consistent on-site presence to support tenants and ensure that all facilities remain in safe, functional, and presentable condition. Periodic tasks with vendor quotes and supervising contractors on tenant renovations and build-outs.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting, with the ability to diagnose and address issues efficiently.
  • Experience in Facility Management (FM) and Building Maintenance, including basic knowledge of building systems and infrastructure.
  • Hands-on Maintenance & Repair abilities for commercial facilities, covering minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs as appropriate.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, follow safety procedures, and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Effective communication skills and a customer-focused approach to working with tenants and management.
  • Knowledge using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word is required. Microsoft Teams, MRI Angus or Workspeed are a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and respond to urgent maintenance requests.
  • Five plus years previous experience in commercial property maintenance is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical training or certifications (e.g., HVAC, electrical, building maintenance) are a plus.
  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30, MEWP are helpful

Salary

This is a full-time hourly position. Wage range is $23/hr - $32/hr based upon verified experience.
