AIRPORT MAINTENANCE DIVISION The John Wayne Airport (JWA) Facilities Maintenance division is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and safety of all JWA facilities. Facilities include a terminal building with approximately 800,000 square feet of interior space, as well as maintenance of over 500 acres of airfield and parking structures with more than 10,000 parking spaces.

In addition to the regular repair and upkeep of these facilities, the Facilities Maintenance Division is also responsible for the JWA's compliance with all local, state, and Federal environmental regulations. THE OPPORTUNITY The Painter paints walls, equipment, buildings, and other structural surfaces using brushes, rollers, and spray guns. It includes removing old paint to prepare surfaces, mixing colors or oils to achieve the required color or consistency, and applying primers or sealers to new surfaces such as bare wood or metal.

The painter reads work orders or receives instructions from supervisors and team members to determine project requirements. Additional responsibilities include painting and finishing newly made partitions, window casings, doors, cabinets, cases, and other surfaces throughout the airport and its associated buildings. Work Hours John Wayne Airport anticipates a 4/10 schedule (4 days a week/10-hour days) for the Painter, and the following shift is available: Night Shift: Wednesday through Saturday; 8:00 p.m

to 6:30 a.m. Please note that JWA operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Employees must be willing and able to work their assigned shift, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays when not on approved leave

Staff may also be required to work other shifts (including night shift), as well as call-back, on-call, and overtime assignments as needed. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES In addition to the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience as a painter in a commercial or industrial environment. They should have hands-on experience painting interior and exterior structures and surfaces, as well as the skill to mix and match various paints, lacquers, varnishes, and enamels.

The ideal candidate will also have extensive experience in the following key competencies: Technical Knowledge | Expertise Experience with painting the exterior and interior of structures and equipment Working knowledge of how to paint, varnish, lacquer, and enamel the interior of buildings, including patching surfaces, and painting and finishing newly made materials Making preparations for painting jobs, such as erecting swings and stationary scaffolding Preparing and mixing paints, varnishes, and shellacs as well as selecting, harmonizing, and mixing colors in proper proportions Mixes and applies putty to correct various structural or cosmetic repairs Knowledge of how to operate spray guns and other mechanical painting equipment Experience with surface preparation for painting, including masking, s…
