Job Description
The Accountant I is responsible for supporting key accounting functions, including financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, and accounts payable/receivable. The Accountant I plays an essential role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions and reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the general ledger, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate recording of transactions.
- Financial Reporting: Support the preparation of financial statements and internal reports by gathering and analyzing financial data. Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, including invoice verification, payment processing, and resolving discrepancies. Manage vendor communications and billing issues.
- Expense Management: Review and process employee expense reports in accordance with company policies and required documentation.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements. Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls.
- Data Entry: Perform accurate and timely data entry. Maintain organized records of financial transactions and supporting documentation.
- Administrative Tasks: Provide general administrative support to the accounting team, such as organizing files, preparing routine reports, and completing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Relevant coursework or formal training in accounting principles is required.
- Experience: 1–2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role preferred; internship experience in accounting is a plus.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and accuracy in data entry. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) is advantageous.
- Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate professionally with internal teams and external vendors.
- Organization: Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Learning Agility: Eagerness to learn and adapt to new systems, accounting processes, and evolving business needs.
