Responsibilities

The Carpenter Master Technician specializes in carpentry and maintenance while supporting a broad range of maintenance tasks including painting, locksmithing, electrical, and plumbing. Key responsibilities include:

Perform regular carpentry maintenance to ensure facility functionality and safety.

Provide emergency response support for critical facility issues.

Coordinate with external vendors and manage facility operations.

Handle hazardous materials and ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols.

Interpret blueprints, ensure building code compliance, and maintain accurate maintenance records.

The position requires working in varied environments, with hazardous conditions such as high noise levels, extreme temperatures, and safety risks. Hours are typically 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with flexibility for occasional weekend work, on‑call duty, and overtime.

Travel is minimal, generally limited to state training sessions and occasional overnight stays during extended conferences, scheduled in advance.

Qualifications

Knowledge of building operations, construction and facility best practices.

Familiarity with national building code, regulations and compliance requirements at federal, state, and local levels.

Knowledge of OSHA and risk management standards for facility maintenance and safety.

Skilled in coordinating and managing multiple projects and timelines while maintaining compliance.

Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills, able to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues quickly and effectively.

Proficient in using mechanical tools, electronic testing devices, and computer systems for equipment testing, repair, and data analysis.

Additional Considerations

Experience in government or public sector roles, especially within transportation, enforcement, or technical operations.

Experience diagnosing, repairing, and calibrating mechanical, electronic, and building/grounds components, including pneumatic, digital, and electrical systems.

Certification(s) in carpentry or equivalent trade experience or certification.
