Columbia University School of Professional Studies (SPS) seeks candidates for the role of Adjunct Lecturer to teach Technology Management Capstone, a graduate-level course in the M.S. in Technology Management program.

The Technology Management Capstone serves as the culmination of the M.S. in Technology Management program journey. In this course, students will apply the learnings from the entire Technology Management program to solve an assigned real-world business challenge with the use of technology. Capstone projects can fall into one of the following categories: 1) the development of a new product or service, 2) achieving operational optimization, and 3) facilitating the adoption of new technologies in an organization. The Capstone sponsors and projects are secured by the program and vary by semester. The Capstone project work can be in conjunction with a corporation or an established startup that was selected and vetted by the program.

Responsibilities

Lead in-person class lectures, instructional activities, and classroom discussions

Evaluate student work and assignments

Monitor student concerns and inquiries and serve as the first point of contact for student questions

Hold weekly office hours

Prepare, maintain, and enhance the course in Canvas, Columbia University’s learning management system

Adjunct Lecturers who are new to SPS must complete Canvas training

Attend program faculty meetings

Requirements

Graduate degree in IT (e.g., computer science, software engineering, AI), business management, finance, or other related disciplines

At least 15 years of industry experience with a focus on driving digital transformation and innovation processes in large corporations

Strong academic foundation in a relevant discipline

Demonstrated proficiency in subject matter relevant to the course

Professional experience and demonstrated success in an applied industry setting

Preferred Skills & Experience

A terminal degree in one of the above mentioned disciplines

2+ years of teaching experience, ideally at the graduate level

Compensation: $13,000 - $15,450 per course
