Duties
- Prepare and serve meals that meet nutritional guidelines and dietary restrictions for residents.
- Assist with food production, including portioning, plating, and presentation to ensure appealing meals.
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures in compliance with JCAHO standards and local health regulations.
- Support the dietary department by cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, and dining areas to uphold sanitation standards.
- Assist with bussing tables, serving residents, and ensuring a pleasant dining environment.
- Handle manual tasks such as heavy lifting and safe lifting practices when moving supplies or equipment.
- Work collaboratively with nursing staff and dietary team members to accommodate special diets and resident preferences.
Skills
- Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, food safety protocols, sanitation practices, and kitchen operations.
- Excellent time management skills to efficiently handle meal prep schedules and service times.
- Ability to work with geriatric patients with patience, compassion, and respect for their individual needs.
- Familiarity with workplace safety procedures including PPE use and manual handling techniques.
- Basic understanding of nutrition principles relevant to dietetic care in healthcare environments.
- Proven customer service skills to create a positive dining experience for residents while maintaining professionalism.
