Assistant Project Manager - Commercial Construction

Location: Houston, TX

We are partnering with a well-established commercial construction firm seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of commercial construction projects throughout the Houston area.

This position will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager looking to grow their career with a stable and expanding organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation
  • Track project schedules, budgets, and cost reports
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and owners throughout the project lifecycle
  • Participate in project meetings and maintain meeting minutes
  • Support procurement efforts and monitor material deliveries
  • Review drawings and specifications to ensure project compliance
  • Assist with contract administration and project closeout activities
  • Conduct occasional site visits to monitor project progress and support field operations
  • Help maintain project quality, safety, and schedule objectives

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial construction as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
  • Experience supporting ground-up and/or renovation projects
  • Strong understanding of construction documents and project management processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
