Server Job Summary
The Server/Guest Experience Ambassador reports to the Director of Dining Services and is responsible for providing a best‑in‑class dining experience to the residents, colleagues, and guests by ensuring exemplary service.
Essential Functions and Key Tasks
Cascade a spirit of hospitality in all dealings with residents, colleagues and guests.
Lead the service of food or beverages to residents and prepare or serve specialty diets and dishes as required.
Engage with residents to obtain desired orders for food or beverages while fully articulating the daily menu offerings.
Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
Ensure residents are satisfied with all aspects of service and communicate with direct supervisor on any customer service issues.
Check residents’ diets, likes and dislikes to ensure such requirements are satisfied.
Assist with set‑up/breakdown of all scheduled meal periods.
Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens as needed.
Perform cleaning duties as assigned, including sweeping and mopping floors, tidying service stations, clearing tables, and taking out trash.
May wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, or other cooking equipment.
May assist in supporting culinary staff at numerous stations as directed.
Provide excellent customer service, being attentive, approachable, greeting and thanking customers.
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Work Environment
Operates in a kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, fire, noise, and equipment such as ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, coffee machines, steamers, mixers, and chef’s knives.
Physical Demands
May be required to sit, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, pull, and lift items weighing 40 pounds or less; may need to stand for long periods; requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, and ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in food service.
Previous customer service experience.
