Commercial Painting Director (commercial painting estimating & project oversight exp. req.)

Location: Near Syracuse, NY

Salary: $100,000 - $130,000+ (DOE) + Incentive Plan + Management Buy-In Option

Job Type: Full-Time

Typical Hours: Monday – Friday; occasional flexibility needed

Travel: Occasional local travel to job sites within 1-2 hours

Commercial Painting Director (estimating & project oversight exp. req.) Description

Our client in the commercial painting industry is looking for a Director to add to their team near Syracuse, NY. You will estimate commercial painting work, oversee awarded projects at a high level, manage GC relationships, and help scale a commercial division with strong local momentum. A project supervisor will handle regular onsite coordination, so this role is focused more on estimating, planning, relationship management, project performance, and commercial growth. To be considered, you must have experience estimating commercial painting jobs and project oversight, and the judgment to handle field changes and curveballs to projects without heavy oversight. This is a strong opportunity to join a growing commercial division with an established GC reputation, vendor pricing advantages, and potential path to management buy-in.

Responsibilities Estimate labor, materials, equipment, margins, and project scope Review blueprints, specs, and RFPs to prepare accurate bids Build proposals for commercial painting projects Manage multiple commercial jobs at one time Assign crews and match project needs to team capabilities Oversee job progress, quality, scheduling, and issue resolution Direct project supervisors on priorities, issues, and execution Monitor job progress, quality, schedules, and budget performance Maintain GC, client, supervisor, and crew communication Resolve escalated change orders, field issues, and project risks Track project budgets, profitability, and execution standards Support commercial growth through GC relationships and follow-up Qualifications 5+ years of commercial painting estimating experience required 5+ years of commercial painting project oversight experience required Ability to read blueprints, specs, and RFPs required Ability to manage GC relationships and field issues required Valid driver’s license required
