Sophisticated integrated systems play a critical role in national security efforts, facilitating an understanding of the global situation, strategic planning, and tactical execution. The reliability, accessibility, and sophistication of these systems can determine the outcomes of conflicts before they begin. STR’s Systems Development Division (SDD) focuses on developing advanced technology solutions to provide asymmetric advantages within the information domain. SDD executes the entire lifecycle of the solution, from conceptualization and architecture refinement through implementation and deployment, while leveraging novel technologies to deliver first-of-a-kind systems. Current efforts include programs for airborne and space RF sensors and advanced operations enabled by multi-function, multi-modal capabilities.

As a Lead Software I T Engineer you will integrate, test, and verify C++ software implementing complex embedded radar systems, with on Air-to-Air applications. Critically, this role is the pathfinder for SDD's SW I T capability — you will capture lessons learned, establish reusable frameworks and processes, and lay the groundwork for department-level support across SDD's portfolio of programs.

What you will do:

Develop and execute plans to integrate software components into processes and ultimately into standalone subsystems

Develop and execute test procedures and frameworks to verify correct implementation and performance of C++ software

Develop and evolve program-specific SW I T plans, capturing lessons learned and reusable patterns that will inform division-wide SW I T standards

Develop test frameworks to verify correct implementation and performance of C++ software

Create automated test scripts and tools to implement and execute integration and test plans

Maintain a suite of automated integration and requirement verification regression tests suitable for incorporation into a DevSecOps pipeline

Participate in peer reviews of requirements, architecture, software implementations, and test plans

Verify interface correctness, including coordination with hardware integration activities.

Develop analysis tools

Perform root cause analysis of software defects and implement corrections.

Document I T processes, tools, and best practices to support knowledge transfer and process improvement

Mentor team members and collaborate across programs to identify common I T needs and solutions

Who you are:

This position requires the ability to obtain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance , for which U.S. citizenship is needed by the U.S. Government.

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with a minimum 8 years of relevant experience (equivalent experience may be considered)

Demonstrated expertise in modern C++ and software engineering techniques including multi-threading, memory management, and performance optimization

Have experience integrating with including unit and system-level testing

Understand the use of GitLab, CI/CD tools, automated testing frameworks, and code quality tools in software development processes

Demonstrated effective communication and collaboration skills to work across software, hardware, and systems engineering teams

Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, mentor engineers, and influence cross-functional stakeholders. Feel comfortable adapting to new programming languages, third-party software frameworks, and innovative technologies

Nice to Have:

Hold an active security clearance (Secret minimum, Top Secret preferred)

Experience developing and maintaining I T plans, procedures, and reports

Prior experience leading I T or test engineering teams

Demonstrate familiarity with signal processing or mathematical modeling

Experience with GPU software development

Experience with RDMA

Demonstrate familiarity with radar concepts

Demonstrate familiarity with integrated systems combining software and hardware to interact with the physical world

Hold an advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field

Understand automation frameworks and tools used to streamline repetitive tasks and manage complex workflows

Prior domain expertise in one or more of the following areas: electronic warfare, antenna apertures, sensor resource management, large-scale platform test systems, cyber physical systems, open system architectures
