Our client, a prominent manufacturing corporation headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri , is seeking a seasoned Lead Corporate Accountant to oversee critical accounting functions. This role demands a strategic thinker with extensive experience in financial reporting and corporate accounting practices. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing a team of accountants, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving the efficiency of financial operations. Key Responsibilities Lead and mentor a team of staff accountants, providing guidance and performance feedback. Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports for executive management and external stakeholders. Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS) and regulatory requirements. Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes. Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity. Analyze financial results, investigate significant variances, and provide insightful commentary. Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and support business objectives. Manage fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules. Assist in the development and management of the annual budget and forecasting. Act as a key point of contact for external auditors. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master's degree or CPA highly desirable. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in corporate accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role. Proven experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. In-depth knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly. Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and deadlines.
