The MDS Coordinator is tasked with gathering and analyzing information about nursing home residents within a structured framework. With a degree of guidance, this position handles the coordination of the Resident Assessment Instrument process and ensures the accurate and timely transmission of data.
Essential Job Function
- Reviews the capabilities of the staff in the Resident Assistant Information process to uncover possibilities for enhancement.
- Holds weekly sessions with aides to recognize any deficiencies and requirements within the restorative program and continued services.
- Coordinates with the nursing and therapy departments to ensure that services are reimbursed appropriately.
- Partakes in continuous education to remain informed about the changing Minimal Data Set processes and to provide insights to the interdisciplinary team.
- Contributes to the refinement of processes by sharing quality audit results.
- Undertakes supplementary responsibilities as needed.
Education
- Required: Associate's DegreePreferred: Bachelor's Degree
Experience
- Required: 3 years as a Registered Nurse and 1 year in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required:Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a CompactBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
