Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, healthcare providers, and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and efficient front desk experience. Your expertise in medical administrative support, electronic health record (EHR) management, and health insurance verification will be essential to maintaining smooth clinic operations. Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service and guiding them through check-in and check-out processes.
  • Manage appointment scheduling using various EHR systems such as Athenahealth ensuring optimal clinic flow.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage through health insurance portals and perform insurance eligibility and benefits verification.
  • Collect and process payments, including medical billing and collections, adhering to HIPAA compliance standards.
  • Review and update patient medical records accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality policies.
  • Assist with documentation review, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare claims processing to support accurate billing and reimbursement.
  • Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, practicing excellent phone etiquette while managing appointment inquiries and follow-up calls.
  • Support clinical staff by preparing intake forms, updating care plans, and managing medical records filing with precision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized front desk area and ensure all administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and documentation are completed efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role with clinic experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Athenahealth.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT), insurance verification processes, and health information management practices.
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office management software.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and medical records management.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism at all times.

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
