Role Summary
By joining our team, you’ll have the opportunity to deploy your design management/project management skills to manage technical staff in developing innovative solutions that solve our clients’ challenging electric transmission and distribution needs. In this role you will collaborate across engineering disciplines to support a diverse international, multi-sector client group. You will manage internal Jacobs teams as well as external subconsultants and contractors. The specific projects you will be assigned will typically include electric substations, transmission & distribution services – both underground and overhead.
This position provides the opportunity to engage with our clients, develop holistic concept-level plans and solutions, then take these through detailed design to provide for full execution of the solution. We offer and deliver a true “end to end” life-cycle service from needs assessment and planning to startup and commissioning. Demonstrated abilities include a broad understanding of construction of underground and overhead electric utility infrastructure.
Prior experience in consulting, design management and project management will be highly regarded. Your primary responsibilities will focus upon providing advisory and design solutions for transmission and distribution projects. You will collaborate with our technical leadership, client account managers and sales professionals on pursuits of strategic importance to the firm. You’ll be expected to possess highly collaborative and sophisticated communication and problem-solving skills. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated the ability to anticipate challenges and manage “up and out” while supporting large teams responsible for the daily details of project delivery. Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Scheduling Developing detailed project plans, timelines, and schedules to ensure that all project phases are completed on time.
- Budget Management Overseeing project budgets, ensuring that costs are controlled and projects are completed within financial constraints.
- Team Coordination Leading and coordinating the efforts of engineering teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among team members.
- Risk Management Identifying potential project risks and developing mitigation strategies to address them.
- Quality Assurance Ensuring that all project deliverables meet the required quality standards and specifications.
- Resource Allocation Managing the allocation of resources to optimize project efficiency.
- Compliance and Safety Ensuring that all project activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and safety guidelines with special focus on keeping people safe.
- Documentation and Reporting Preparing and maintaining comprehensive project documentation, including progress reports, cost analyses, and final project reports

Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer license in state(s) within the Western Region of the US.
- Minimum of 10 years demonstrated professional experience as a Project Engineer, Design Manager, or Project Manager responsible for execution of transmission and/or distribution related projects.
