The Medical Assistant II/III supports quality patient care by preparing for clinic visits, rooming patients, documenting clinical information, and assisting with routine and specialty procedures. Responsibilities include performing approved clinical tests, maintaining exam rooms and supplies, scheduling follow‑ups, managing patient communications, and completing clerical tasks, while ensuring excellent customer service and HIPAA compliance.
Pediatrics or Surgery experience preferred.

Position Summary
Functions as a member of the clinical team performing a supportive role in the delivery of patient care that is safe, effective, patient‑centered, timely, efficient and equitable.
Position Key Accountabilities
- Performs responsibilities that promote quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.
- Participates in planning and preparing for patient visits, ensuring schedules, test results and clinic‑specific requirements are available.
- Rooms patients consistent with clinic needs while determining and documenting chief complaint, vital signs, medication list, allergies, smoking history and other information. Keeps patients informed of delays and appointment progress.
- Performs hearing and vision testing, EKG, spirometry, point‑of‑care testing, specimen collection, equipment cleaning/reprocessing and other procedures as required and competency validated.
- Prepares and stocks rooms and supplies daily/weekly and cleans rooms between patients.
- Assists with routine and specialty procedures.
- Schedules follow‑up appointments or referrals and performs clerical duties such as photocopying, scanning and faxing.
- Performs telephone messaging and in‑person screening with appropriate follow‑up.
- Responds to emergency situations.
- Respects and maintains privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) required or
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologist (AMT) required or
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required or
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing required
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program or one year of experience (in addition to the required experience) with certification may substitute for the training program.
Minimum Experience
One year of related experience.
Physical Requirements
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
