2nd Class Welder

Position Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt, Hourly

Reports to: Fabrication Manager

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Location: Jacksonville, FL or Fort Worth, TX

Summary Objective

Capable of performing a variety of welding functions in all positions on structural plate and 6G pipe with SMAW, FCAW and GTAW. Willingness to cross train for multi-function structural and piping assembly processes.

Essential Functions

  • Fluent in understanding job specific WPS / PQR’s and capable of setting machine up for performance in all positions to certified testing criteria.
  • Analyze blueprints for weld insignia and the application thereof to assembly components on piping and structural systems.
  • The ability to identify correctly, measured, hand dressed, cut and fit: prepare metal surfaces for welding process to be completed per job specific requirements.
  • Capable of visual observation of pre and post-welded surfaces; and the interpretation of fulfilled job requirements with micrometer, caliper and other precision measuring

instruments.

  • Technically proficient in the interpretation of insufficient weld criteria and knowledge to efficiently blend to repair.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solver who can understand and follow instruction.
  • Accountability for completion of daily work assignments while monitoring quality, safety and health regulations.
  • Operate overhead cranes and or forklifts.
  • Complies with all company policies, procedures and safety requirements and physically / medically qualified to wear required PPE per OSHA standards.
  • Prepares for ISO 9001 and other audits.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Location

This position will work out of our facilities in Jacksonville, FL or Fort Worth, TX. This position is not approved for telecommuting or working remotely.

Work Environment

This position operates out of a fabrication facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. The first shift days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel is primarily not required with the exception to local travel during the business day.

Required Education and Experience.

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in threading, grinding, welding, brazing, rigging, plasma cutting, gas arc cutting.
  • Related experience or training.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 6+ Years’ experience in Welding SMAW, FCAW and GTAW, or a combination.
  • 2 years vocational technical training.

Work Authorization

Must be authorized to work in the USA.
