Position Summary

A small, growth-oriented company (under $10M in annual revenue) located in the Greater Salt Lake City area is seeking an experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper / Accounting Manager to oversee all day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions. This role is the financial backbone of the organization and requires a hands-on professional comfortable working independently in a small business environment. The position is estimated at 4–6 hours per day, Monday through Friday (approximately 20–25 hours per week).

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Enter and manage vendor bills and customer invoices in QuickBooks Online
  • Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on past-due accounts
  • Process payments to vendors in a timely manner

Bank & Account Reconciliations

  • Perform monthly reconciliation of all bank and credit card accounts
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner

General Ledger & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries
  • Prepare monthly financial reports including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet
  • Assist ownership/management with financial analysis and cash flow monitoring

Payroll Administration

  • Input and process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll through QuickBooks Online or its integrated payroll platform
  • Ensure accuracy of employee hours, deductions, and tax withholdings

Human Resources Support

  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding in HR and payroll systems
  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with basic HR documentation requirements
  • Assist with benefits administration as needed

General Administrative Duties

  • Support management with miscellaneous administrative and financial tasks
  • Maintain organized digital filing systems for financial and HR documents
  • Coordinate with external CPA or tax preparer at year-end as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a closely related financial role
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO certification a plus)
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite — Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping practices
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Experience with payroll processing and HR onboarding/offboarding
  • Prior experience in a small business environment (under $10M in revenue)
  • Familiarity with Utah state tax requirements and payroll compliance

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
