Lab Phlebotomist

Responsibilities
- Collect blood specimens from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established protocols.
- Explain procedures to patients to create a comfortable and trusting environment.
- Perform verification of patient demographic information and ensure proper labeling of specimens, including patient initials and signatures post-venipuncture.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring integrity and accuracy in processing.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of blood draws and patient interactions.
- Adhere to safety standards and maintain a professional, clean environment.
- Demonstrate flexibility to cover multiple locations and work varied hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while demonstrating leadership behaviors and process excellence.
- Uphold confidentiality and accuracy of patient information in all interactions and documentation.
Required Skills
- Strong phlebotomy skills across pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, peers, and supervisors.
- Proficient data entry and record-keeping abilities.
- Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
Additional Skills & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
- 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary sampling.
- Experience in a Patient Service Center environment highly preferred.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and a clean driving record if applicable.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Keyboard and data entry experience.
