About the Role
The Valuations Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end collateral valuation function, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant property valuations that support sound lending decisions.
This role oversees valuation operations, manages internal teams and external vendors, establishes quality control standards, and partners closely with Underwriting, Processing, Title, and Closing to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and maintain a seamless loan process..
What You'll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities)
Lead the Valuations Team – Manage, coach, and develop valuation analysts while balancing workloads and ensuring service level expectations are met.
Oversee the Valuation Process – Direct the end-to-end collateral valuation process, including appraisal ordering, IVDs, BPOs, inspections, reviews, and final value determinations.
Ensure Quality & Compliance – Maintain adherence to company policies, investor guidelines, USPAP, and regulatory requirements through robust quality control procedures.
Manage Vendor Relationships – Oversee appraisers, appraisal management companies (AMCs), BPO providers, inspectors, and other valuation vendors, including performance, pricing, and SLAs.
Resolve Complex Collateral Issues – Review challenging valuation scenarios, appraisal disputes, reconsiderations of value (ROVs), rural and unique properties, and other escalated cases.
Partner with Cross-Functional Teams – Collaborate with Underwriting, Processing, Title, Closing, and Sales to resolve collateral-related issues and keep loans moving efficiently.
Monitor Performance Metrics – Track and report on KPIs such as turnaround times, revision rates, vendor performance, valuation costs, and quality metrics.
Drive Process Improvement – Identify operational bottlenecks and implement workflow improvements, automation, and standard operating procedures to increase efficiency and consistency.
Support Credit Decisioning – Provide collateral expertise and valuation guidance to Underwriting on loan structuring, LTV calculations, and collateral risk assessment.
Maintain Policies & Training – Develop valuation procedures, maintain documentation, and train staff on best practices, systems, and evolving valuation standards.
