Job Description:
The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality kosher meals and deli items while following kosher dietary laws, food safety standards, and established recipes. This role ensures efficient kitchen operations, maintains cleanliness, and provides excellent food quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook kosher deli foods, including soups, meats, sandwiches, salads, and side dishes.
- Follow kosher food preparation and handling procedures to maintain compliance with kosher standards.
- Ensure all food is prepared according to recipes, quality standards, and portion guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist butcher in cutting and packing meat.
- Assist front of the house staff as needed.
- Monitor food inventory and notify management of needed supplies.
- Properly store, label, and rotate food items using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assist with receiving and inspecting food deliveries.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
- Follow all company policies regarding food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety.
- Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a cook, preferably in a deli, restaurant, or kosher kitchen.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and food quality.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
