Job Description

Inventory Control Specialist

Position Summary

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring inventory integrity, and supporting warehouse and production operations through effective inventory management practices. This position works closely with Warehouse, Production, Logistics, Purchasing, Quality, and Finance teams to ensure timely and accurate inventory transactions, reconciliation, reporting, and compliance with company procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Inventory Management

Monitor and maintain inventory accuracy within ERP/WMS systems.

Process inventory transactions including receipts, transfers, adjustments, returns, and shipments.

Perform daily inventory reconciliation and investigate inventory discrepancies.

Conduct cycle counts and support physical inventory activities.

Analyze inventory variances and identify root causes.

Recommend corrective actions to prevent recurring inventory issues.

ERP/WMS Operations

Ensure all inventory transactions are accurately recorded in ERP and Warehouse Management Systems.

Review and validate inventory data integrity.

Support system troubleshooting and resolve inventory-related transaction errors.

Assist with ERP/WMS process improvements and optimization initiatives.

Cross-Functional Coordination

Coordinate with Production teams to ensure material availability and inventory accuracy.

Collaborate with Logistics and Warehouse teams regarding material movement and inventory transactions.

Partner with Purchasing and Supply Chain teams to resolve receiving and inventory discrepancies.

Support Finance during inventory reconciliation and month-end closing activities.

Reporting and Analysis

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports.

Track inventory KPIs including inventory accuracy, inventory aging, cycle count performance, and material shortages.

Analyze inventory trends and provide recommendations for improvement.

Support management with inventory performance metrics and operational reporting.

Compliance and Audit Support

Ensure compliance with company inventory control policies and procedures.

Maintain documentation supporting inventory transactions and adjustments.

Assist with internal and external audits.

Support implementation of inventory control best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.

Participate in warehouse and supply chain improvement projects.

Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications

Education

Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.

Experience

Minimum 3 years of inventory control, warehouse operations, logistics, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.

Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).

Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

Battery manufacturing, automotive, or high-volume manufacturing experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding of inventory control principles and warehouse operations.

Proficiency with ERP and WMS systems.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.

Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment.

Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.

Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Ability to perform cycle counts and physical inventory verification activities.

Working Conditions

Manufacturing and warehouse environment.

May require occasional overtime, weekend work, or support during physical inventory activities.
