Position Title:LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Children's Sooner Pediatric Clinic

Job Description:We are looking for care team members to join the team at the Sooner Pediatric Clinic. Sooner Peds is a large, fast-paced clinic serving a high-volume of pediatric patients in & around Oklahoma City. Estimated to see 21,000 patients this year, our clinic recognizes the importance of preventive care and parental education to obtain the best outcomes for our patients. Our clinic team supports 80+ providers, which includes attendings, residents, nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers & a dietician. We have the privilege of watching our patients grow and building relationships with the families we serve throughout their child's life. We are looking for care team members who are adaptable, team-oriented, have a patients-first attitude, and are passionate about the health of the children of Oklahoma.
General Summary
Under general supervision,providespreventative and health care to an assigned group of patients or clients in the OU Health facility.
Essential Responsibilities
Responsibilitieslisted in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or withoutan accommodationmay result in disqualification from the position.
- Assistswith the nursing assessment through data collection, observation, and obtainment of vital signs on assigned patients or clients.
- Providescare according to an established nursing plan.
- Observeschanges inpatient'scondition and notify supervisory personnel if significant changes occur.
- Providesroutine ostomy care, nasogastric tube placement and feeding and placement,anddiscontinuingoforal-gastrictube.Initiatesand monitorsoxygen therapy according to physician orders or unitprotocol.
- Suctionsand cleanstracheotomy sites.
- May administer oral, intravenous, intra-muscular, intra-dermal, subcutaneous, sub-lingual, vaginal, rectal,and topical medications.
- Preparespatients for routine physical examinations andassistthe physician during examinations.
- An LPN can function in the role of Surgical Tech if position open is in the operating room.
GeneralResponsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
- HS Diploma or GEDrequired.
- Completion of education requirements for NCLEX-PN examination.
Experience Requirements
- No experiencerequired.
License/Certification/Registration Requirements
- Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Associationrequiredupon hire.
- Current LPN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing OR a current multistate LPN License (eNLC)required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, coordinate, plan, and evaluatenursingneeds of assigned patients.
- Must be knowledgeable aboutoperatingroom techniquesifapplying for a surgery position.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
