Oil & Gas Accountant: San Antonio / Houston / Tulsa

Company:

• Oil and gas back-office services firm that helps energy companies with accounting, lease records, division orders, land administration, owner relations, and compliance support
• Full-service partner for upstream and midstream operators, private equity firms, family offices, gas plants, and other energy clients

Compensation and Benefits:

• Salary up to $120K

Location:

• Can be based at company office in San Antonio, Houston, or Tulsa

Role with the Company:

• General Ledger & Financial Reporting
• Own the full-cycle general ledger and financial reporting process for assigned oil & gas clients.
• Prepare, review, and approve journal entries with minimal oversight.
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Prepare and analyze profit and loss statements.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

Analysis & Operational Support

• Analyze account activity and research variances.
• Review operational reports including LOS and property reports.
• Support variance analysis and management reporting.
• Maintain fixed asset and oil & gas property accounting records.
• Audit, Tax & Compliance Support
• Assist with annual audit and tax inquiries.
• Provide data and documentation to support client audits and tax reporting.

Background Profile

• College degree required, Accounting major strongly preferred
• 7+ years of progressive oil & gas accounting experience, preferably in a small to mid-sized E&P, operator, or oil & gas services environment
• Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of the accounting lifecycle, including: • Joint Interest Billing (JIB)
• Revenue recognition
• Full cycle GL accounting with month-end close
• Month-end close
• Financial statement preparation
• Experience supporting multiple entities or clients with varying ownership structures
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP as applied to oil & gas operations
• Hands-on experience with oil & gas accounting systems such as Wolfepak (required)
• Experience with systems such as Excalibur, SAP, OGsys, or similar strongly preferred

Desired Skills and Experience

• College degree required, Accounting degree strongly preferred
• 7+ years of progressive oil & gas accounting experience
• Experience in a small to mid-sized E&P, operator, or oil & gas services environment
