The Occupational Therapist II evaluates patient s conditions, plans, organizes, and participates in rehabilitative programs that facilitates return to optimal functional abilities, improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and decrease or prevent deformity of patients suffering from disease or injury, including patient and family education. This position is able to effectively and efficiently treat all patients in their clinical practice setting and complete all occupational therapy job functions with minimal guidance. This therapist initiates communication amongst inter-disciplinary team members, treats familiar patients with confidence, and advocates for their patients and team. This role requires independent practice in the primary setting, may require mentoring/guidance in complex situations and may have difficulty with cross coverage to other settings.

Essential Job Function:

  • Evaluates and manages a wide spectrum of diagnoses and more challenging patients.
  • Evaluates patients' physical abilities, medical histories, and functional constraints comprehensively to craft individualized rehabilitation plans.
  • Administers therapeutic routines and other occupational therapy strategies to assist patients in improving their strength, flexibility, and range of motion.
  • Educates patients and their families on treatment procedures, home exercise routines, and self-management strategies to improve healing results.
  • Partners with others in the development and implementation of discharge plans and recommendations for sustained care, occasionally needing support from colleagues.
  • Watches over and documents patients' advancements, treatment results, and responses to interventions for the purpose of adapting treatment plans accordingly.
  • Joins forces with colleagues from different departments to achieve coordinated patient care and comprehensive treatment outcomes.
  • Aids in familiarizing and instructing new personnel, exhibiting an unwavering commitment to advancing the performance and proficiency of coworkers.
  • Manages varied responsibilities as given.

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in occupational therapy.

Experience:

  • Required: 2 years

Licensure/Certification/Listing:

  • Required: Licensed by the North Carolina Occupational Therapy Board; BLS (CPR), American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
