Principal Project Manager, Horizontal Operations, Enterprise Learning
Capital One’s Enterprise Learning & Development (L&D) team is seeking a Principal Project Manager, Horizontal Operations to drive process optimization, well-managed delivery, and project management across various horizontal functions on our team (budget, vendor, and risk management).
We are looking for someone who can effectively work across multiple partner teams to drive key outcomes (ie. program delivery leads, platform owners, learning leaders). As part of the Horizontal Operations team, this person could support our budget, risk management, and vendor operations functions (depending on need and current focus). They will support the creation and maintenance of key artifacts including process documents, socialization decks, budget trackers, and year-over-year forecasts. They will serve as the L&D team’s lead point of contact for their functional area, ensuring close alignment with the broader organization's go-forward strategy. They will also serve as a strategic consultant across L&D to assist the team in planning future program budget needs, triaging risk issues and leading ongoing socialization and educational efforts for the team.

What your day to day will look like:
- Partnering with teams across L&D to ensure accurate and efficient action (i.e. monthly, quarterly, annual budget planning, incident management).
- Consulting with partners such as Finance and HR’s Business Risk Office including maintaining clear lines of communication and building out forecasting and proactive mitigation actions
- Preparing monthly business review (MBR) reporting for learning leadership (e.g. budget spend and forecast updates, headcount and open roles tracking, risk incidents and controls metrics) ensuring data integrity
- Communicating accurate and relevant financial, risk, and third party vendor information that empowers program manager and learning leader decision making
- Forecasting future budget needs through balancing business objectives with financial realities
- Building and delivering ongoing socialization plans to increase awareness of L&D’s budget, risk management, and third party vendor roadmap including owning socializing awareness of upcoming initiatives with the L&D leadership team
- Serving as a peer leader across the L&D team, ensuring that horizontal operations initiatives are delivered on-time and with high quality

- Proven ability to navigate across a large organization to drive change and influence on-time deliverables across multiple job families (ie. Learning Consultants, Program Managers, Risk Management, Finance, Enterprise Supplier Management, and Learning Leaders)
- Showcase an openness to diverse viewpoints and perspectives to drive consensus on solutions that align with the organization’s strategic priorities
- Ability to work with minimal oversight, delivering high-quality results on-time
- Detail-and process-oriented, able to manage several projects and initiatives at once with supportive direction and an ability to adapt to change quickly

- Confident communicator (verbal and written), with a focus on clarity, influence, and data-driven storytelling who can influence and communicate to a range of audiences, including associates, leaders, and partners
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
- At least 3 years of experience in project, process, program or quality management
- At least 1 year of experience working in risk management, budget and financial management, or consulting spaces
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of Finance or Risk Event management experience
- 3+ years of experience in management of multiple projects concurrently in an autonomous environment
- 3+ years of operations management, horizontal delivery, or financial analysis experience
- Business Process Management, or Project Management certification
