The University offers bachelor's degrees in more than 230 areas of study, master's degrees in more than 50 subjects and doctoral degrees in 26 disciplines; supported an institutional record of more than $100 million in research awards for FY24; and has an operating budget of close to $500 million.High School diploma/GED and Journeyman Electrician license with five (5) years of journeyman level experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical systems in large commercial, industrial or intuitional facilities. Requires a valid driver's license and the ability to respond to after normal hours emergencies occasionally.

  • Acts as senior advisor to shop supervisor, electrical engineer, shop personnel and Physical Plant Administration; assists shop supervisor as needed to provide training to personnel.
  • Coordinates the activities of electrical contractors performing work on campus; inspects and approves electrical contractors' work; ensures that contractor and in-house work complies with applicable codes and Physical Plant and University policies.
  • Inspects, test, services, and repairs, emergency electrical generators and elevators as necessary.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Plans and estimates electrical projects for review by electrical engineer.
  • Troubleshoots electrical systems to locate and correct problems; installs and connects new systems including wiring, conduit, fuses, control systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance work on electrical equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
