Aechelon Technology is seeking a Staff Engineer, Frontend Applications to help design and build easy-to-use, high-performance frontend applications that support our simulation platforms and related tooling. This role will contribute technical expertise to modern user-facing applications, including web-based and desktop experiences, with responsibility for driving implementation decisions, collaborating with UI/UX and cross-functional teams, and helping to elevate the quality of frontend engineering across the team. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in frontend application development, solid product and systems thinking, and experience building responsive, scalable applications that support complex, real-time workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Contribute to technical decisions and participate in architectural discussions for frontend applications and related systems

Develop and maintain responsive, high-performance frontend applications using modern frameworks and technologies such as React, TypeScript, and Electron

Partner with UI/UX designers and other stakeholders to deliver seamless, intuitive user experiences

Design and implement real-time, bidirectional communication features to support live data streaming and updates

Optimize applications for maximum speed, security, scalability, and maintainability

Help define and promote engineering best practices for frontend architecture, testing, observability, and performance

Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers on the team

Collaborate with backend and platform engineers to ensure efficient integration between frontend applications and underlying services

Minimum Qualifications

8+ years of software development experience, including significant experience building complex frontend applications

BS or MS degree in Computer Science or relevant technical field involving coding, or equivalent practical experience

Strong expertise in React, TypeScript, and modern frontend application development

Experience building performant, interactive web or desktop applications

Experience with real-time communication patterns, including WebSockets or similar technologies

Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and experience integrating frontend applications with backend services

Demonstrated ability to contribute to technical initiatives and influence implementation decisions

Ability to work with export controlled technology

Preferred Qualifications

Experience building desktop applications with Electron

Understanding of UI/UX design principles and frontend optimization techniques

Strong programming skills with C and C++ languages

Experience developing applications for simulation, visualization, or other performance-sensitive technical environments

Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to a team’s technical growth

Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000 USD per year.

The pay scale for this role is between $150,000 - $200,000. The range is specific to CALIFORNIA and may not be applicable to other locations. Final compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
