Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Garden Designer role based in Chagrin Falls, OH. The Garden Designer will plan and design residential landscape projects, with a strong emphasis on native plants and sustainable practices. Day-to-day responsibilities include meeting with clients to understand their vision and site conditions, developing concept plans and detailed planting plans, and coordinating plant selection and ordering. The role involves overseeing plantings and installations on-site, collaborating with gardening and landscaping crews, and ensuring that designs are implemented accurately and safely. The Garden Designer will also work Horticulturalist teammates to monitor garden performance over time, recommend maintenance strategies, and help educate clients on the benefits of native landscapes.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Garden Design and Landscape Design, with the ability to translate client needs and site constraints into clear, functional plans.
  • Hands-on experience in Gardening and Plantings, including knowledge of native plant species, soil conditions, and seasonal care.
  • Practical understanding of Landscaping principles, such as grading, hardscape integration, and overall site layout.
  • Ability to produce sketches or basic design drawings; familiarity with AI and design software (e.g., CAD or landscape design tools) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of sustainable and ecological landscape practices, including water-wise design and habitat-friendly plant selection.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to explain design concepts and maintenance needs clearly.
  • Capacity to perform outdoor work in varying weather conditions and to collaborate effectively with field crews.
  • Relevant education or training in landscape design, horticulture, or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience considered.
