Fairchild Media Group: Social Media Editor

Fairchild Media Group is looking for a sharp, creative Social Media Editor to help power the daily social presence of our iconic brands—WWD, Footwear News, Beauty Inc, and Sourcing Journal — with a primary focus on WWD.

This role sits at the intersection of journalism, visual storytelling, and real-time culture. You’ll play a key role in translating breaking news, original reporting, and standout visuals into engaging, platform-native content that resonates across social. Working closely with the Social Media Director, you’ll help drive daily publishing, shape and package content, and ensure timely, engaging content that reflect each brand’s distinct voice.

This is a fast-paced, highly collaborative role ideal for someone with strong editorial instincts, excellent writing skills, and a deep understanding of how social platforms actually work.

FMG values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture.

What You’ll Do

Support daily social publishing across Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn and emerging platforms

Help manage social calendars across multiple brands to ensure consistent, timely posting

Package and publish editorial content for social, tailoring tone, format, and presentation by platform and brand

Write clear, compelling, on-brand captions and headlines

Assist with real-time coverage of breaking news, fashion shows, industry events, and major editorial moments

Collaborate with editorial, video, and art teams to develop social-first content

Perform light video editing for social (Reels, TikTok), including trimming clips, adding text, and basic formatting

Create or adapt simple visual assets using templates and established brand guidelines

Monitor social trends and surface timely opportunities for engagement

Track performance and share insights to help optimize content

Support community engagement and audience interaction as needed

What You Bring

2–4 years of experience in social media, ideally in editorial, media, or fashion/beauty

Strong writing and editing skills with a keen eye for tone, clarity, and detail

Solid understanding of social media best practices and platform nuances

Basic video editing experience (CapCut or similar tools)

Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, or similar tools

A strong interest in fashion, beauty, retail, and business news

Exceptional organization skills and the ability to juggle multiple brands and priorities

A collaborative mindset, adaptability, and a desire to keep learning

Additional Details

Flexibility to work occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends for breaking news and events

What This Role Looks Like

This is a hands-on execution role focused on bringing social strategy to life across Fairchild Media Group’s brands. You’ll work closely with the Social Media Director, take real ownership of daily publishing, and build toward greater responsibility over time — especially in shaping how WWD shows up on social.

A good faith estimate of the salary range is $67,000 - $75,000 upon hire. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role.
