Job Description
Join OCTA as a Coach Operator and play a vital role in safely transporting passengers throughout Orange County. You’ll provide exceptional customer service while operating agency motor coaches along designated routes.
Effective, May 1, 2026, the hourly rate for this position is:
- $24.30/Hour - Training (6 weeks)
- $25.37/Hour - Upon certification (after training)
- $26.35/Hour- After 6 months **
- $38.67/Hour - Top rate after 4years
- Six (6) month increases are subject to terms of Collective Bargaining Agreement
This position will remain open until filled.
What You’ll Do
- Safely operate a motor coach and adhere to route schedules
- Provide excellent customer service, including assisting passengers and those with disabilities
- Collect fares, issue transfers, and make stop/transfer announcements
- Follow all traffic laws and agency policies
- Report accidents, incidents, and vehicle maintenance needs
- Complete required forms and documentation accurately
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum age of 21 with a clean, current DMV driving record
- Ability to pass state-mandated physical performance tests
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work variable hours, shifts, and locations
- Ability to make basic arithmetic calculations and complete required forms
- Willingness to complete OCTA’s Student Coach Operator Training Program
- California Commercial Driver License (Class A or B) with passenger endorsement, or ability to obtain
