Summary
We are currently seeking a Physical Therapist II to join our outpatient ortho team at our Community Clinic locations (this role will be primarily at our Brooklyn Park Clinic location, with potential to train at or and cross cover to other locations). This full‑time role will work 5 days per week (Monday to Friday, either 8:00AM to 4:30PM or 8:30AM to 5:00PM). In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, the PT provides therapeutic services including evaluation, treatment, discharge planning and education.
Responsibilities
- Perform and document comprehensive physical therapy evaluations
- Develop and document patient care plans to promote optimal function and safety
- Observe, evaluate, and document patient’s progress
- Participate in hospital rounds and patient care conferences
- Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques, care, and treatments
- Complete all documentation and charges of services per departmental standards
- Function as a clinical instructor for physical therapy and physical therapy assistant students
- Direct and supervise activities performed by PT aides consistent with their training and skill (patient transfers, transport, preparation of patient and equipment for treatment, selected treatment procedures, clerical duties and departmental maintenance)
- Direct and supervise selected physical therapy interventions performed by physical therapist assistants
- Properly apply and operate rehabilitative equipment
- Develop and conduct physical therapy in‑services for other staff
- Orient and mentor newly assigned staff
- Serve as a clinical resource for other staff
- Participate in program development
- Represent the physical therapy department on committees and provide consultation to other departments and agencies as assigned
- Assume responsibilities of the supervisor as assigned during the supervisor’s absence
- Provide work direction for clerical staff
- Assist in monitoring the quality of physical therapy activities and services
- Function as a resource for departmental policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of physical therapy
- Minimum of 2 full‑time years of experience (≈4,160 hours)
- Possession of a valid Physical Therapy license issued by the Minnesota State Board of Physical Therapy
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of policies/procedures and practice standards; physical therapy theory, techniques, and treatment; physical therapy and orthopedic equipment; counseling and educational techniques; bandaging and wrapping techniques
- Ability to perform professional physical therapy techniques and treatment; calibrate and operate physical therapy and orthopedic equipment
- Ability to provide work direction for ancillary personnel
- Ability to counsel and instruct patients and families; ability to recognize and document patient progress
- Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the medical team
- Ability to interact with individuals of widely diverse lifestyles, including the ability to deal objectively with individuals whose attitudes and behaviors differ from one’s own
- Ability to read and interpret written instructions, patient charts, and physicians’ notes
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures in an advisory capacity (educate)
License / Certifications
- Possession of a valid Physical Therapy license issued by the Minnesota State Board of Physical Therapy
