Job Overview

Duties
- Assist patients in selecting eyewear that fits their lifestyle, preferences, and prescription requirements
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse when necessary for comprehensive patient assessments
- Conduct laboratory tasks including lens edging, fitting, and quality checks to ensure optimal optical performance
- Educate patients on proper eyewear care, medical terminology related to vision health, and relevant health regulation policies
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA and state healthcare regulations
- Support retail sales efforts by promoting eyewear products, managing inventory with retail math skills, and providing excellent customer service in a retail optometry setting
Skills
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy, physiology related to vision health, and optics fundamentals
- Familiarity with EMR systems like OfficeMate ExamWriter or similar electronic health record platforms for accurate documentation
- Retail management skills including sales techniques, inventory control, and retail math proficiency
- Knowledge of health regulation policies including HIPAA compliance, clinical confidentiality policies, and state healthcare regulations for safe practice management
