Join the Outpatient Pharmacy team at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital as a Full-Time Pharmacy Operations Technician! We are dedicated to providing compassionate, world-class care to every patient, and we are looking for an enthusiastic individual to assist pharmacists in various pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently organizes prescription orders, prioritizing tasks on the counter, and manages labels, paperwork, and medication supplies.
  • Provides exceptional customer service by handling refill requests, new prescriptions, and communicating with doctors for authorizations while addressing patient inquiries and concerns.
  • Prepares prescriptions for dispensing, ensuring accuracy in counting and labeling medications, and effectively prioritizing waiting customers.
  • Processes financial transactions, including cash, check, credit, and payroll deductions, while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations and conducting end-of-day register procedures.
  • Handles data entry for new prescriptions and refills under pharmacist supervision, addressing any insurance claim issues that may arise.
  • Receives and organizes daily inventory orders, returns medications to their proper locations, and participates in routine inventory management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: At least 6 months of experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail setting or equivalent training is necessary.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Completion of pharmacy technician certification through an accredited examination (PTCB or ExCPT) within 180 days is required, along with the necessary pharmacy technician licensure or registration as mandated by state regulations upon hire.
