CNC LATHE MACHINIST / PROGRAMMER

Full-Time | Phoenix, AZ 85040 | Competitive Pay DOE

PAY RANGE:

$25 – $35/hr DOE

SCHEDULE:

Mon–Fri, Day Shift

TYPE:

Full-Time W-2

START:

Immediate

WHO WE ARE:

MillPro Metal Works is a veteran-owned precision CNC machine shop in Phoenix, AZ. We run small to large volume jobs using a wide variety of materials, holding tight tolerances for aerospace, defense, and high-stakes manufacturing customers — including Northrop Grumman, Honeywell Aerospace. We're a small, professional shop that values hard work and has no time for politics or excuses.

We're growing and we need a lathe machinist who can set up and run production, read a print without help, and take ownership of the work that comes off their machine.

THE ROLE:

This is NOT a button-pushing position. We need someone who can:

▸ Set up and operate Haas SL-20 lathes with live tooling

▸ Run the Haas ST-10 with bar feeder for production work

▸ Write and edit lathe programs at the control and in Fusion 360

▸ Hold tolerances to ±0.0005" consistently

▸ Read GD&T and work directly from customer prints

▸ Perform in-process inspection using mics, calipers, bore gauges, and thread gauges

▸ Identify tooling issues and make offset adjustments on the fly

▸ Manage chip control, feeds, speeds, and tool life on your own

▸ Work a mixed-material environment: aluminum, stainless, steel, brass, Inconel, titanium

▸ Transition between jobs efficiently — this is high-mix, not single-part production

▸ Support first article inspection documentation when required

▸ Maintain a clean, organized work area — no exceptions

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

▸ Minimum 5 years CNC lathe experience — CAD/CAM, setup and operations.

▸ Haas control experience required (Fanuc a plus)

▸ Fusion 360 proficiency required — this is non-negotiable, we use it daily

▸ Proficient in GD&T and blueprint reading

▸ Strong hands-on inspection skills — know how to use the tools

▸ Self-sufficient — you don't need to be told to check your work

▸ Reliable — if you say you'll be there, you're there

▸ Able to work in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment

▸ Authorized to work in the US (ITAR-controlled work requires US person status)

ADDED VALUE:

▸ Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience

▸ Familiarity with AS9100 quality requirements

▸ Experience with live tooling and sub-spindle operations

▸ ITAR awareness and experience with controlled technical data

▸ Experience machining exotic materials — Inconel, titanium, 17-4PH

▸ Ability to cross-train on mill setups (not required, but valued)

WHAT YOU'LL BE RUNNING:

▸ Haas SL-20 with live tooling (x2) — primary lathe work

▸ Haas ST-10 with bar feeder (x1) — high-volume bar work

▸ Full shop environment including 4 and 5-axis Haas mills, CMM, laser engraver

WHAT WE OFFER:

▸ $25–$35/hr depending on experience

▸ Consistent Monday–Friday day shift schedule (7:00am-3:30pm)

▸ Stable, growing shop with opportunities to learn.

▸ Small team environment — no corporate politics

▸ Veteran-owned and operated — we respect strong work ethic and motivation

▸ Direct communication with owner — no layers of management between you and decisions

▸ Retirement matching — we match your Edward Jones contributions, because we're building something worth sticking around for

▸ Opportunity to grow with the shop as we expand capabilities and certifications

THIS JOB IS RIGHT FOR YOU IF:

▸ You take pride in making top quality machined parts

▸ You can work independently without constant supervision

▸ You're the kind of machinist who notices a problem before it becomes a bad part

▸ You're a "Figure it out" type rather than a "wait to be told" type

THIS JOB IS NOT RIGHT FOR YOU IF:

▸ You need someone to watch over you to stay productive

▸ You treat tolerances as suggestions

▸ You have minimal CAD/CAM Knowledge

HOW TO APPLY:

Send your resume and a brief note about your lathe experience to:

brandon@millprometalworks.com

Subject line:

CNC Lathe Machinist — [Your Name]

In your note, tell us specifically what machines you've run, what you've made, and what tolerances you routinely hold. Generic applications get generic responses. Show us you actually read this posting.

Qualified candidates will be contacted for a brief phone screen followed by a shop visit and hands-on evaluation. We hire people, not resumes.
