Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator/Material Handler to join our dynamic warehouse team. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently handling materials, operating various types of heavy equipment, and ensuring the safe and accurate movement of goods within the warehouse environment. Your expertise in warehouse management systems, equipment operation, and materials handling will be vital to maintaining smooth distribution processes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate mechanical aptitude, attention to safety standards, and a proactive approach to supporting warehouse operations.
Duties
- Operate stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, cherry pickers, or walkie riders to load, unload, and transport materials safely within the warehouse.
- Manage shipping and receiving tasks by inspecting incoming shipments, verifying quantities against purchase orders, and preparing items for outbound delivery.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through proper labeling, stacking, and organizing of materials in accordance with warehouse management system protocols.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and perform basic repairs or notify maintenance for mechanical issues to ensure optimal operation.
- Assist in warehouse distribution activities by coordinating with supervisors and other team members to optimize space utilization and workflow.
- Adhere strictly to OSHA safety standards and company policies during all operations to promote a safe working environment.
- Support warehouse supervisor in managing stock levels, conducting cycle counts, and maintaining organized storage areas.
- Handle heavy lifting tasks safely while ensuring proper ergonomic practices are followed at all times.
Qualifications
- Min 6 months of Forklift experience.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control procedures.
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair and maintenance is preferred.
- Strong understanding of warehouse distribution processes including load & unload procedures and order picking techniques.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for inventory counts and measurements.
- Prior experience in shipping & receiving operations is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations related to heavy equipment operation and materials handling.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
