As a Student Life Associate, you'll build meaningful connections that help Jewish students feel seen, valued, and inspired to explore their identity and community. You'll meet students where they are and help create experiences that feel relevant, joyful, and genuinely theirs.

You are an equal parts connector, coordinator, and community-builder. You're not just running programs–you're helping shape how students experience Jewish life during one of the most formative times in their lives.

This role is ideal for an early-career professional who is energized by working directly with students across a wide range of Jewish backgrounds and identities. The Student Life Associate translates strategy into authentic connection, and impactful action and is ready to wear many hats as UMass Hillel continues to evolve and grow.

What You'll Do

Build meaningful one-on-one relationships with students across a wide range of Jewish backgrounds and identities, from first connections to follow up that deepens engagement over time

Create a welcoming, inclusive environment where every student feels they belong, with a particular focus on reaching students not traditionally engaged in Hillel.

Enhance students’ college experience using proven methods as well as innovative approaches that include our Hillel garden and commercial kitchen

Meet students where they are — across campus, through student organizations, and at campus events

Partner with students leaders to create and execute programming that reflects the diverse interests of UMass students

Advise student groups to create impactful, mission-driven programming

Collaborate with awesome staff colleagues and campus partners

Track student interactions and program participation using Hillel engagement systems

Contribute to team planning, reflection, and assessment — and embrace new responsibilities as you grow with us

What You Bring

Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; recent graduates and early-career professionals (0–3 years) are encouraged to apply.

Relational approach: A genuine passion for building relationships and community

Strong project management skills: You can work on multiple initiatives at the same time, keeping details from falling through the cracks, and follow through independently

Flexibility and a growth mindset : You're comfortable adapting as organizational needs shift and thrive in a dynamic environment

Welcoming instincts: An ability to connect warmly with students across the full spectrum of Jewish backgrounds — from deeply observant to culturally Jewish to those just beginning to explore their identity

Strong organization skills with a desire to learn new systems

Creativity, initiative, and emotional intelligence

Comfort working a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and Jewish holidays

What You'll Receive

Salary Range: $45,000 – $48,000, based on experience.
