Job Title: General Laborer I

Job Description

This entry-level General Laborer I role supports a production line that manufactures laundry detergent and other chemical products. You will rotate through several light-duty tasks, including packaging, palletizing, capping containers, and assembling boxes, while working in a clean, organized, and largely climate-controlled facility. As you gain experience, you can train on wrapping and filling machines and potentially advance into chemical mixing and other higher-skill production roles.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a production line performing 3–4 different duties, rotating tasks weekly or daily as needed.
  • Package hardened blocks of laundry detergent and other chemical products into boxes according to production standards.
  • Stack boxed products onto pallets using equipment designed to reduce bending and strain.
  • Lift cases weighing up to 15 pounds consistently throughout the day while following safe lifting practices.
  • Place caps on tubs and containers moving down the production line, with the option to sit while performing this task.
  • Assemble and build boxes for packaging using appropriate tools and materials.
  • Attach identifying tags to containers or clearly mark them with identifying information.
  • Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine work assignments, material requirements, and equipment needs.
  • Record numbers of units handled and moved using daily production sheets or work tickets to maintain accurate production records.
  • Move freight, stock, and other materials to and from storage areas, production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, and containers by hand or using material handling equipment such as trucks or tractors.
  • Sort cargo and materials before loading or unloading to ensure correct placement and efficient workflow.
  • Assemble product containers and crates using hand tools and precut materials as required.
  • Load and unload cargo using appropriate hoisting devices and equipment where applicable.
  • Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers to ensure products are secure and meet quality standards.
  • Carry needed tools and supplies from storage or trucks to the work area and return them after use to maintain organization.
  • Participate in cleaning and training activities during the first and last hour of the shift to support safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and operational guidelines while working with chemical products and production equipment.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to maintain smooth production flow and resolve basic issues that arise during the shift.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 0–2 years of general labor or related experience required.
  • At least 1 year of manufacturing production experience preferred, ideally in a chemical production environment (chemical experience is preferred but not required).
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds consistently throughout the day.
  • Ability to wear steel-toe boots throughout the shift.
  • Basic verbal and written communication skills to read work orders and follow instructions.
  • Analytical and problem-solving ability to identify and address simple production or material issues.
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail in packaging, labeling, and documentation.
  • Ability to learn and safely operate relevant production and material handling equipment.
  • Reliability to work a full-time schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a chemical production or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Previous packaging, palletizing, loading, unloading, sorting, or assembly experience is beneficial.
  • Experience in general production or warehouse settings is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with cleaning procedures in a production environment is helpful.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures that support safe and secure operations for people, property, and materials.
  • Comfort working with basic hand tools and simple mechanical equipment.
  • Willingness to learn how to operate wrapping machines, filling machines, and potentially support chemical mixing processes.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Why Work Here?

You will join a reputable organization that offers clear opportunities for growth and promotion from within, including progression into machine operation and chemical mixing roles. The facility provides an onsite chef offering affordable breakfast and lunch options, along with an onsite physical therapist available at no cost to employees. You will work in a super clean environment where most floors are climate controlled, and you can earn flexible hours after demonstrating reliability and performance over time. The culture emphasizes employee well-being, continuous training, and long-term career development.
