Responsibilities
- Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain and record patient vital signs/medication list, monitor patient flow.
- Assist physicians with minor clinical procedures and perform EKGs.
- Prepare patient charts with pertinent medical information and schedule diagnostic tests as ordered.
- Maintain patient privacy, safety, and confidentiality.
- Ensure compliance with infection control policies and safety regulations.
- Perform office and clerical duties, including maintaining a safe environment, stocking, organizing, cleaning, and disinfecting healthcare delivery areas.
- Maintain files, oversee equipment and office supply inventory, photocopy, collate, fax, and mail.
- Ensure physician orders for medications and treatments are implemented by appropriate staff.
- Provide coverage/relief for co-workers and communicate patient status when providing coverage.
- Assist physicians with exams and procedures.
- Record patient information in chart/EHR according to Joint Commission standards; maintain a professional demeanor.
- Obtain blood sample specimens by venipuncture or capillary methods, considering patient age.
- Receive, screen, process, distribute or package all specimens according to guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Specialized/technical training from an accredited School of Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma program.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum one year of experience in an acute care setting or combined education/experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Familiarity with word processing, GECB, COR, Cerner, ProSolv, and scheduling software.
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association.
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) – must be obtained or renewed within 30 days of hire if not already valid.
- Medical Laboratory Personnel License – NV (must be obtained or renewed within 30 days of hire if not already valid).
Compensation
Hourly rate range: $21.00 - $27.01.
