Job Summary
Qargo Coffee is seeking a motivated, energetic, and customer-focused Barista / Assistant Manager to join our team. This hybrid role combines exceptional customer service and beverage preparation with leadership responsibilities that support the daily operations of the café. The ideal candidate is passionate about coffee, hospitality, team development, and operational excellence. As a Barista / Assistant Manager, you will lead by example, ensure smooth day-to-day operations, support the Store Manager, coach team members, maintain high quality standards, and help drive an outstanding guest experience.
Key Responsibilities Barista Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve coffee, espresso beverages, teas, and food items according to Qargo Coffee recipes and standards.
- Deliver exceptional customer service in a welcoming and professional environment.
- Greet customers, answer menu questions, and provide product recommendations.
- Operate the POS system and accurately process cash, debit, and credit card transactions.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, equipment, utensils, and dining areas.
- Conduct daily quality checks on beverages, food items, and inventory.
- Restock products and maintain appropriate inventory levels throughout each shift.
- Support the sale of retail coffee products, merchandise, and accessories.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Support the Store Manager in overseeing daily café operations and ensuring smooth shift execution.
- Lead and motivate team members while fostering a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Monitor product quality, food safety, cleanliness, and operational compliance.
- Help manage inventory counts, product ordering, receiving deliveries, and minimizing waste.
- Handle customer escalations and resolve issues to maintain high guest satisfaction.
- Ensure company policies, cash handling procedures, and operational standards are consistently followed.
- Complete administrative and operational tasks as assigned by the Store Manager.
- Act as Manager on Duty when the Store Manager is unavailable.
- Be available to work varying shifts based on business needs, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (college coursework is a plus).
- Previous supervisory, shift lead, or assistant management experience in coffee, food service, or hospitality preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for coffee, hospitality, and creating exceptional guest experiences.
- Ability to accurately follow recipes, operational procedures, and quality standards.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift at least 20 lbs.
- Willingness to learn, grow, and develop within Qargo Coffee.
- Knowledge of coffee preparation, food safety, inventory management, and POS systems is preferred.
