As the senior technical resource on the maintenance team, the Maintenance Technician III carries full accountability for maintenance program integrity across all shifts. This includes ownership of the calibration program, hazardous waste compliance program, and PM quality standards. This role performs complex diagnosis and repair of furnace systems, compressed air infrastructure, calibrated instrumentation, and facility electrical systems with minimal supervision. The Maintenance Technician III is the first responder to equipment issues, the driver of reliability improvements, and the formal trainer and mentor for Maintenance Technician I and II personnel. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor

Essential Duties Responsibilities

Lead diagnosis and repair of complex furnace system failures including electrical, thermocouple, atmosphere control, and high-temperature mechanical components

Assist in ownership of calibration program. Develop and maintain calibration schedules, perform calibrations, audit documentation, and ensure traceability across all process equipment

Serve as technical resource for compressed air system health including predictive monitoring, major overhauls, system efficiency assessment, and vendor coordination

Maintain hazardous waste compliance program. Oversee container labeling, accumulation timelines, inspection logs, full MassDEP and RCRA regulatory adherence, and ensure team compliance with all LOTO and confined space entry procedures across all shifts

Review, author, and continuously improve PM task lists in CMMS. Validate work order completion quality, close documentation gaps, and maintain accurate records to support management reporting on asset health, downtime, and PM completion rates

Perform advanced electrical troubleshooting and repair including panel level work, VFDs, PLCs, 3-phase systems, and control system modifications up to 480V

Serve as first responder to equipment issues. Make independent decisions on repair strategy, equipment disposition, and when to engage vendors or engineering

Provide formal on-the-job training and mentorship to Maintenance Technician I and II personnel. Maintain training records and serve as a Qualified Trainer for the team

Serve as the primary maintenance point of contact for additive manufacturing and production operations teams. Own the resolution of equipment specific issues affecting the printing process including compressed air systems, environmental controls, and production support infrastructure

Help lead root cause investigations for recurring failures, document findings in CMMS, assign corrective actions, and verify effectiveness to prevent recurrence

Help enforce SOP compliance, verify documentation completeness, and escalate performance issues to the Maintenance Supervisor

Education Experience

High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in engineering technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field is strongly preferred

Completion of a state-accredited journeyman or technical school program, or equivalent formal training with demonstrated field proficiency, strongly preferred

5+ or more years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or precision production environment

Demonstrated advancement in responsibility over career, including ownership of maintenance programs or systems, not simply execution of assigned tasks

Technical Skills and Knowledge

Expertise in industrial furnace systems including atmosphere control, electrical systems, thermocouple installation and calibration, and high-temperature mechanical maintenance

Advanced knowledge of compressed air systems including system design, leak detection, efficiency analysis, and complete overhauls

Familiarity with instrument calibration, NIST traceability documentation, calibration scheduling, and recordkeeping

Ability to read and modify schematics, work at the panel level, troubleshoot PLCs and VFDs, and diagnose 3-phase systems

Strong CMMS proficiency including PM task creation, work order management, failure code analysis, and maintenance reporting
