Job Summary

Abrams Airborne is seeking a skilled Assembly/Soldering Technician to join our manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for hand and machine soldering, and component assembly, of products on the production floor. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, solid technical skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform through-hole, SMT, and/or wire soldering according to work instructions and engineering drawings

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs)

Operate soldering irons, hot air rework stations, wave/selective soldering equipment as required

Inspect assemblies for defects (cold joints, bridging, misalignment, missing components) and perform touch-up/rework

Follow IPC-A-610 (or applicable) workmanship standards

Adhere to ESD-safe handling procedures and facility safety protocols

Complete production paperwork, travelers, and quality documentation accurately

Meet daily production and quality targets set by the supervisor

Participate in continuous improvement (Lean/5S) initiatives

Communicate issues (material shortages, equipment problems, quality concerns) to supervisor promptly

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

1–2 years of soldering/assembly experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions

Basic math and measurement skills (calipers, micrometers, etc. as needed)

Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination

Comfortable using magnification tools/microscopes for fine detail work

Ability to work in a team environment and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods (up to full shift)

Repetitive hand and wrist movements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally

Manual dexterity for handling small parts and tools

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (noise, fumes from soldering, etc. — proper PPE and ventilation provided)

Preferred Skills

Experience with reflow ovens, wave soldering, or pick-and-place equipment

Familiarity with ERP/MES systems for production tracking

Prior experience in automotive, industrial equipment, electronics, or general manufacturing

Forklift or basic material-handling equipment certification a plus
