Job Summary
We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced Substitute Teachers to join our vibrant early childhood education team, specifically for classrooms serving children aged 3 to 6 years old. Retirees with a passion for nurturing young learners are highly encouraged to apply! The ideal candidate will have mandatory classroom experience, a strong background in early childhood development, and the ability to adapt seamlessly to various classroom environments. Hours will be unpredictable and preferably light (indicating staff not calling off too much). Short notice response necessary and reliability is paramount. We need you in a pinch!
Duties
- Implement lesson plans and curriculum activities aligned with school policies and developmental standards for preschool and early elementary students
- Manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement techniques and effective behavior management strategies
- Foster a nurturing environment that encourages social-emotional growth, literacy, math skills, and early childhood development
- Collaborate with staff to support individualized learning plans, including working with children with special needs or autism spectrum disorder
- Maintain accurate attendance records, student progress reports, and adhere to mandated reporting laws
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a cohesive educational experience
- Uphold school policies related to safety, confidentiality, and child protection at all times
Requirements
- Proven classroom experience working with children aged 3–6 years old in preschool or early childhood settings
- Mandatory experience in curriculum development, lesson planning, and classroom management
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles such as Montessori methods or childhood development best practices
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques and working with children with diverse needs including special education or autism spectrum disorder
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with young learners, parents, and staff
- Understanding of mandated reporting laws and school policy compliance
- Previous private school or preschool experience is preferred but not required; passion for early childhood education is essential
