Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
  • Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure health stability
  • Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care strategies
  • Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and protocols
  • Operate manual handling equipment, such as Hoyer lifts, safely to assist with transfers
  • Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements and assist with feeding when necessary
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation routines
  • Document care activity
  • Engage residents in social activities and provide emotional support to promote mental well-being
  • Follow safety procedures, including CPR and First Aid certification protocols, to respond effectively during an emergency

Skills

  • Proven experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care environments
  • Strong understanding of geriatrics, dementia care, Alzheimer's care, and behavioral management techniques
  • Ability to assist with ADLs and perform heavy lifting safely using proper manual handling techniques
  • Knowledge of medication administration and vital signs monitoring
  • Excellent caregiving skills with a compassionate approach towards individuals.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certifications; additional certifications, such as Hoyer lift training, are advantageous
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a retirement home setting, with the ability to handle cleaning tasks efficiently.
